Pro tip: the dive shop in Galveston sells refurb regs for half price and the old timers there know their stuff
Stopped by a shop on the seawall in Galveston last month while working a small bridge job nearby. Everyone online says never buy used life support gear, but the guy behind the counter pulled apart a refurbished second stage right there and walked me through every o-ring and seat he had swapped. The thing had 40 dives on it since the rebuild and pressure tested clean both times I checked. I get why people are careful, but writing off good refurb gear from a shop that stands behind it seems like throwing money away. Anyone here running rebuilt regs, and did you have a shop you actually trusted do the work?
