Honestly, the bigger issue might be the GLUE itself. A lot of those kits use a generic adhesive that just can't bond to the suit's specific material, like crushed neoprene versus trilaminate. You have to match the chemistry.

Ever tried the black witch neoprene cement? That stuff actually works on my crushed neoprene suit, unlike the junk in most kits.
