Spent $45 on a variant cover at my local shop and the inside art is reused linework

So I grabbed what I thought was a cool variant of a new Batman issue at Cosmic Comics in Denver last Saturday. The cover looked amazing, all stylized and unique. But when I got home and flipped through it, I realized the interior art is literally just the same poses and panels from an issue they put out three months ago. They just recolored the backgrounds and called it a new story. I feel like an idiot for not looking closer before buying. I mean, $45 could have gotten me three back issues or a trade paperback instead. Has anyone else gotten burned by a variant cover that was just a cash grab like this?

Just paid full price for a coloring book with Batman on the cover, what a steal. $45 for the privilege of spotting reused elbow lines.
