Dropped $60 on a signed comic that turned out to be fake

I bought a signed copy of Amazing Spider-Man #300 off eBay for $60 last month, thought I scored a deal. The signature looked legit in the photos, but when it arrived the ink was smudged and the cert slip seemed off. I took it to my local comic shop and the owner told me it was a fake after checking it with a UV light. Now I'm out $60 and stuck with a worthless book. I should have asked for better pics or bought from a trusted seller. Has anyone else gotten burned by fake signatures online?

man that sucks so bad. i got burned on a fake "signed" copy of uncanny x-men 266 a few years back, the original gambit first appearance. seller had this whole story about how he got it signed by jim lee at a convention in the 90s, even had a pic of the book with some dude holding it. turned out the picture was from a random google image search and the cert was just a piece of cardstock he printed at home. i didn't learn my lesson though, i still buy signed stuff on ebay all the time, i just ask for a video of the seller showing the signature under a uv light before i pay. also started looking for those little COA hologram stickers that big grading companies use, theyre harder to fake. still lost 40 bucks that day and the book sits in my closet as a reminder to be more careful.

$40 for a fake Gambit is rough, man. That really blows.
