Vent: My go-to cafe uses beans from a farm with shady practices
I just learned my favorite coffee place gets its beans from a farm that clear cuts forests. On one hand, their coffee is amazing and the staff are friends. On the other hand, I hate supporting that kind of damage. Do you think taste should come first or should we boycott for ethics? Curious what others think.

Morgan's story about talking to the barista is spot on. I tried the "ignore it for the taste" move once and it just makes you side-eye your own drink every time. Your cafe probably has no idea where those beans really come from, suppliers love to hide the ugly details. Just ask the staff in a friendly way - if they're your friends, they'll listen. Sometimes a few customers asking is all it takes for a place to make a better choice.

When you mentioned the forest clear cutting, that stuck with me. I had a kinda same problem with a local spot I loved, but their supplier was pretty bad for the planet. Honestly, I tried to ignore it because the coffee was perfect, but my gut kept bugging me. So I ended up chatting with the barista about it, just casual like, and they were super open to feedback. Turns out a bunch of regulars felt the same, and the cafe started looking into better beans. It took a bit, but now I can enjoy my drink without the guilt trip.
