Showerthought: my barista friend in Seattle changed how I see my morning cup
I was visiting my friend Chloe, who works at a shop called Elm Coffee Roasters, and she asked me what I was tasting in my usual brew. I just said 'coffee,' but she pointed out a specific fruity note from the Ethiopian beans. It made me slow down and actually pay attention instead of just drinking it on autopilot. Anyone have a simple trick that helped them taste more in their daily coffee?

Ever try drinking it when it's cooled down a bit? Ngl, I used to burn my mouth every morning just trying to get the caffeine in me. But letting it sit for a few minutes totally changes the flavor. All those notes people talk about, like chocolate or fruit, they really pop out when it's not scalding hot. It's a super simple thing but it made my average coffee taste way more interesting.

Honestly, my trick is just trying to smell it first like a weirdo. I used to just chug it, but now I take a second to actually breathe it in before the first sip. It sounds dumb, but it makes a huge difference, even with my cheap grocery store stuff. My wife caught me doing it and laughed for a solid five minutes.

My trick is trying to taste the notes, but I usually just taste my own morning breath.
