Neighborly coffee chat took a sharp turn into bean snob territory
A new neighbor stopped by yesterday, and I offered coffee to be friendly. I whipped up a pot using my basic drip maker. But oh boy, after one sip, the neighbor's face twisted up like I'd served bitter medicine. This led to a monologue on bean origins and brewing methods. I'm all for good coffee, but this was over the top. Questions about my roast choice came next, and my answer of store-bought blend caused visible distress. The chat became so stiff I pivoted to discussing the forecast. Honestly, I might skip coffee next time and go straight to water, haha.

Remembered my buddy had a similar thing happen. His neighbor tasted his grocery store coffee, made a face, and actually poured it out in the sink. Guy now proudly drinks instant coffee forever.
