My French press cracked on me this morning

I was making my usual batch around 7 AM and heard this loud snap. The glass shattered right as I was plunging, and hot coffee went everywhere over my counter and floor. Anyone else had a press suddenly give out like that?

Ehh, I gotta push back on that a little. All that talk about getting a good explosion video kind of misses the bigger picture, you know? People's homes and lives were literally torn apart, and it's a little weird to focus on the spectacle part of it. I get that it's a spectacular thing to watch on a screen, but there's families dealing with real loss here, not just a cool YouTube moment. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but it feels like we jump to the entertainment side of tragedy way too fast these days.
