My cousin told me to skip learning Git for 3 months and just focus on loops, that advice cost me a week
My cousin who works at a shop in Austin told me in January to put off Git until I could write a nested loop in my sleep, so I did and then my first group project fell apart because I could not pull anyone's code. I spent 6 days copying files by hand over Slack like an idiot while the other two guys kept pushing to the same repo. Does anyone actually learn Git from day one, or did you wait like I did?
Honestly I'd push back on your cousin here, learning git the first week is way more useful than waiting until loops feel easy. Loops you can practice on your own time, but a group project dies fast if you can't pull and merge, and that pain is what actually teaches git anyway. Three months of delay for a tool you could pick up basics on in a weekend just doesn't add up in my experience.
