Heads up: that weird lenticular cloud I posted last month took 45 mins to actually ID

I spent way too long trying to figure out what that smooth lens shaped cloud was over my barn. Turns out it was a lenticular cloud from mountain wave activity, not something rare. Has anyone else wasted an afternoon on a cloud ID that should have taken 5 minutes?

Wait, how did you finally nail down the ID? I usually end up flipping through cloud atlases or random weather sites for hours, and even then I'm never 100% sure. Did you use a specific app or just match it against a bunch of photos online?
