Finally caught a lenticular cloud over Mt. Hood last Saturday

I've been driving out to the Hood River area for months trying to see one of those lens-shaped clouds and last weekend it finally happened. The air was super still and the cloud was sitting right on the summit like a giant flying saucer, almost too perfect to be real. It stayed for about 20 minutes before the wind shredded it into these thin streaks. Do lenticular clouds usually stick around that long or did I just get lucky with the conditions?

Standing waves off a peak like Hood can keep a lenticular locked in place for hours if the wind stays steady up top. The catch is the cloud itself isn't the same air the whole time, it's constantly forming on the front and melting away on the back, so it just looks frozen. Twenty minutes probably means the wind shifted and broke the wave, which is still a solid catch.
