Rant: I thought carbon offsets were a scam until I dug into one project
I used to think buying carbon offsets was just guilt money for rich people. But I looked into a cookstove project in Kenya that actually tracks reductions with GPS data on usage. Has anyone else found a project with real proof that changed your mind?

I mean, that cookstove project sounds way more legit than most. It reminds me of this time my cousin tried to offset his whole family's flights by buying into some tree planting thing in Costa Rica. Turns out they planted the trees on land that was already forest, so it didn't actually do anything. He was so mad he started a whole argument at Thanksgiving about it.

But those cookstove projects have actually been audited and verified, unlike your cousin's tree thing which sounds like a straight up scam. Not every offset is the same, @stellam89, you gotta look at the certification before you buy in.
