Had a brutal day last Tuesday trying to clean up after a town hall on solar co-ops here in Phoenix.
Nobody showed up to the meeting except three retirees who argued about batteries for 45 minutes, and then I got a parking ticket on top of it. Anyone else have an organizing event that just totally flopped?

Oh man, I gotta respectfully disagree with some of that. I mean, I get why people say timing and location matter, but honestly, sometimes it's just a numbers game that's out of your control. In a city like Phoenix, there's so much going on all the time that even a perfect spot at a perfect time can still get zero turnout. Three retirees showing up and talking batteries for almost an hour? That's not a failure, that's actually kind of a win in my book. At least they cared enough to show up and engage with the topic, even if it got a little sidetracked. The parking ticket sucks, for sure, but I'd rather have a small group of really interested people than a big crowd of folks just wandering in for free snacks. Maybe it's just me, but I think persistence matters way more than any single event's turnout.

Vent your frustration, that sounds like a total mess. Three retirees debating batteries for almost an hour is already rough, but then getting a parking ticket on top of it just rubs salt in the wound. I had a similar flop last spring trying to host a composting workshop. Only two people showed up and one of them was my neighbor who just wanted to borrow my lawnmower. It honestly makes you wonder if the timing or location is wrong, or if people just aren't as interested as we think. What time of day did you schedule the town hall?
