TIL I've cleaned exactly 500 chimneys in my town

I was updating my log book yesterday and realized I hit 500 jobs here in Springfield, which is wild because I only started three years ago. Some guys say keeping count is just ego, but I think it shows you're building real trust in a community. Do you track your numbers, or is it better to just focus on the next job?

Honestly, I tried to track my numbers once. Made it to maybe seven before I forgot what I was counting. Was it oil changes, or the number of times I said "yep" to a customer? Lost the notebook in my own garage. So yeah, 500 is mind blowing. That's a real legacy right there, not just ego. I'd probably frame that log book page.

Wait, you lost the notebook in your own garage? That's the most mechanic thing ever, lmao. I bet it's under a parts box or stuck to an old oil filter. @the_richard, that's why my one attempt was on my phone, but then I just took pictures of cool jobs instead of counting. A framed log book page would be awesome though, like a trophy you can actually explain.
