Talked to an old timer at the supply house yesterday

Ran into a guy who's been sweeping since the 70s. He said he never uses a rotary brush on clay flues, just hand tools and patience. Made me rethink how I handle some of these older jobs here in Philly. Anyone else get advice that goes against what you learned in training?

My buddy tried the rotary brush on a clay flue last week and ended up with a cracked liner.

Was he running it off a drill or a real rotary?
