Heard a guy at the hardware store say everyone should switch to rotary brushes for everything

I think he's dead wrong after using my rod and hand brush setup for 15 years on 300+ chimneys in Portland, rotary brushes just bounce off heavy creosote and leave a mess, anyone else see it the same way?

Man I used to be all about rotary brushes myself, thought they were the future. But after fighting with one on a nasty creosote job last winter and having to finish with a hand brush anyway, I totally get where you're coming from now. Rotary just skims the surface while rod and hand actually scrapes the real crap off.

Huh, actually rotary brushes can handle heavy creosote if you run them slow and let the chain do the work.
