Paid $18 for a 'sunset picnic' permit at Lakeview Park and got kicked out 20 minutes in
Two Fridays back I grabbed a $6 rotisserie chicken and some $4 sparkling cider for a cheap date at Lakeview Park, figuring the permit fee was just a formality. Turns out the "reserved area" I paid $18 for was literally two picnic tables roped off right next to the boat launch, and the noise from jet skis made it impossible to hear each other talk. A park worker rolled up at 6:40 and said the permit didn't cover after 6:30 anyway, so we packed up our half eaten chicken and sat on a curb. We ended up driving to a 24 hour diner and splitting a $9 plate of fries, which honestly beat the picnic. Does anyone know a free spot near the lake that doesn't get flooded with launch traffic on Friday nights?

Skip the permit next time, total waste of money. Just park on the north side by the trails, nobody bothers you there. Way quieter too.
