That $60 scratch post almost killed my cat - no joke
I was at home last Tuesday in my living room, watching TV, and my cat Luna was using this cheap rope scratch post I bought on Amazon. Suddenly I heard this tearing sound and she yanked the whole thing over. The base came apart and a staple was sticking straight up. She stepped on it and got a small cut on her paw. I spent the next 2 hours at the emergency vet getting it cleaned up and bandaged. Has anyone else had a scratch post fall apart like that and injure their cat?

You really think the scratch post is at fault here? Cats climb on everything and sometimes things fall over. A staple sticking up is bad luck, sure, but that could happen with any furniture in your house if it gets knocked over. Maybe check how secure the base is before blaming Amazon for a $60 post. My cat has sent bookcases crashing down and I don't blame the bookcase for existing... it's just what cats do.

Oh man, you're totally right about the bookcase thing. That part about "you don't blame the bookcase for existing" is exactly what I was thinking. My cat knocked over a heavy floor lamp just last week, and I didn't sit there blaming the lamp company for making it too tippy. Cats are little chaos gremlins by nature, they'll find a way to knock anything over if they're determined enough. And honestly, with a scratch post for $60, you're probably getting a decently made one anyway, not something that's going to fall apart from one cat climb.
