Missed my flight because of a liquid rule at security in Phoenix

I was so proud of my perfect carry-on packing for a 4 day trip to Seattle, but then TSA pulled out my 4 ounce bottle of contact solution. I had to check my bag at the gate and it took 45 minutes to get it back. Has anyone else had to rearrange their whole system after a liquid regulation surprise?

Grab a small travel bottle set and decant everything over 3 ounces into those.
