Showerthought: I started using a cheap plastic putty knife to seat carpet around tight door jambs after my regular knee kicker wouldn't fit.

It worked perfectly on a job in a Phoenix condo last week, but I'm curious if anyone has a better tool for those super cramped spaces.

Honestly, that plastic putty knife trick is solid for tight spots. I've been in that exact spot with a knee kicker that just won't go where you need it. Tbh, I ended up using a small, flat pry bar and just tapping it gently with my palm to get the carpet tucked in right. It gives you a bit more control than a putty knife when you really need to push into a stubborn corner.

That plastic trick is smart for avoiding damage, which rivershah's pry bar method could risk on some baseboards. A worn-out stair tool handle, ground down a bit, can give you the right angle and strength without marking anything up. Sometimes the best tool is just an old one you modify for the job.
