Had a chat with a homeowner in Denver that made me rethink my whole approach

I was doing a measure for a basement carpet job last Tuesday and the lady asked me why I always use the same padding. She said her last installer used a higher density pad and the carpet felt way better. I told her I just go with whatever is cheapest and she said that's lazy. I stood there for a second and realized she was right. Has anyone else had a customer call them out on something simple like that?

Honestly that takes guts to admit but she had a point. The cheap stuff might save a few bucks but customers notice the difference later and talk.

In my experience the biggest issue with cheap paint isn't even the chipping, it's how it fades unevenly in sunlight and leaves patchy spots that are impossible to touch up later.

Yeah, the part about "customers notice the difference later" is dead on. I've seen friends buy the cheapest paint for a flip and then get complaints about chipping within a month. Saving twenty bucks isn't worth losing a future sale.
