Found out carpet remnants can sit in a warehouse for 12 years before being sold

Ngl I was digging through a supplier's back room in Cleveland last week and found a roll from 2012 that still had the original tags. Has anyone else stumbled across ancient stock that somehow still looks fresh?

Twelve years is nothing, I found a roll of shag carpet from the late 80s at an estate sale once. Still had the plastic wrap on it and smelled like grandma's basement. Some of that old stuff was built to last, guess they don't make em like they used to. Probably still good for a small bathroom or closet, just gotta air it out for a week.

Man I had almost the exact same thing happen @markl75. Found a roll of some 70s avocado green shag at a garage sale like 8 years ago, still wrapped and everything. Threw it in the spare room for a couple months before I even unrolled it lol. The smell was wild at first kinda like mothballs and old wood. But after a good week in the sun it actually laid down pretty nice and didn't even shed much. Definitely worth the $20 I paid for it.

You really let a smelly old carpet sit in your spare room for two months?
