Spent a full day trying to get a simple mitered picture frame corner perfectly flush, only to realize my miter saw's fence was out by a hair after 8 hours of sanding and swearing.

Has anyone else had a tiny tool calibration issue waste a huge chunk of time on a seemingly simple project?

Honestly that's why I check my square before every cut now.

8 hours of sanding and swearing" is the realest thing I've read all week lol. That exact kind of tiny miscalibration has ruined so many of my weekends. It's the worst feeling when you finally spot the simple fix.

My old shop teacher had a saying about that. Measure twice, cut once, and check your tools three times. It's saved me a lot of grief.
