Walked into a random career fair at the mall last weekend... wild

I was just grabbing a pretzel at the food court when I saw a banner for a career fair in the event space. Figured why not, so I wandered in. No joke, one booth had a guy selling essential oils and calling it a "wellness career." Next to him was a legit trucking company handing out keychains. I talked to a recruiter from a local hospital about admin jobs and she said they're so short staffed they'd hire me on the spot if I could pass a typing test. Then some dude tried to recruit me for a multi level marketing gig selling phone plans. I was in and out in 20 minutes, but it was the weirdest mix of opportunities I've ever seen. Has anyone else stumbled into one of these random pop up career events and actually found anything good?

Wait, did you get a free pretzel out of it at least? Honestly that's the real win if you did. My friend Sarah walked into one of those mall career fairs a couple years back and ended up talking to some lady selling energy drinks from the back of a minivan. She thought it was a joke but the lady was dead serious about her "business opportunity." The wildest part was she actually found a part time gig at a call center that paid decent and she stayed there for like 8 months. So I guess sometimes the weird ones can work out but it's mostly just a grab bag of nonsense. Ngl I'm kinda jealous you got a typing test offer though, that's way more legit than the energy drink lady.

So was the typing test for an actual job or just some temp agency pitch?
