Took a $19k pay cut for a job with a better title and 8 months later I'm applying to my old role again
Left my old job as a claims processor at a big insurance company in Columbus back in March because the new place offered me 'Senior Analyst' and I thought the title alone would boost my resume. The money dropped from $67k to $48k but the recruiter kept saying the growth path was better and I believed it. Turns out 'senior' meant I was the only analyst on the team and I just did the same work plus everyone's expense reports. My old boss texted me in October asking if I wanted to come back, and I said yes before she finished the sentence. Lesson learned: ask what the day to day looks like before you get excited about a word on a business card. Has anyone here ever gone back to a job they left and actually been happy, or does it get weird with the people who stayed?
