Can we talk about the burnout I saw at that coding bootcamp demo day?

I went to a coding bootcamp demo day at a coworking space in downtown Austin last month and it was honestly kind of wild. Like half the people showing off their projects looked completely exhausted, barely making eye contact while talking about their apps. One guy showed a meal planning app he built in like 9 weeks straight, working nights and weekends on top of the regular curriculum. He said he slept maybe 4 hours a night for the last month to get it done. The instructors were all hyping up the projects but nobody mentioned how wrecked everyone seemed. It made me wonder if that kind of grind is just normal now for breaking into tech or if this particular bootcamp was pushing too hard. Has anyone else been to one of these events and noticed the same thing?

That grind is exactly why those bootcamp grads land jobs though. The ones who sleep 4 hours and still ship something are the ones who survive in actual tech companies. Nobody wants to hire the person who crumbles under pressure when deadlines hit.

Yeah @lisa_brown I just stuck to my regular sleep schedule and it worked out fine for me.
