A quick tip from an old landscaper in Denver changed my whole approach to bidding jobs.

He told me to always add a line item for cleanup because clients never see that coming. Has anyone else got a piece of advice from a stranger that stuck with you?

How much did that one tip actually bump up his bids?

Who read something about how people don't think about the mess after work is done? I saw a post on a business forum once where a guy said he started charging for cleanup separately and his customers actually respected him more for it. They saw it as him being thorough instead of cutting corners. Makes sense because nobody likes surprises when they're paying for a job, but they also don't like having to ask for something they assumed was included. That little line item probably saves him a lot of awkward conversations.
