Saw 3 people this month review sleeping bags based on packed size alone

Honestly it's kinda driving me nuts. I was at a campground in Oregon last weekend and watched a guy unbox a 30 degree bag that was super tiny but he had no idea if the loft was even there. Ngl I made the same mistake 2 years ago when I bought a bag that packed down to the size of a soda can but I froze my butt off at 40 degrees because the insulation was trash. Why do so many reviews skip talking about the actual warmth or fill quality? Has anyone else noticed this trend getting worse?

Wait so was the guy in Oregon actually checking the fill power at all or did he just see that tiny packed size and throw down cash? I see this all the time online and it drives me crazy because a bag that compresses that tight usually means they're using cheap synthetic fill that loses its loft after one season. Had a buddy buy one from a big box store last spring because it was "ultra packable" and by the third night out the feathers were clumped up like wet newspaper. How do you even trust a review that only mentions packed size when the whole point of a sleeping bag is keeping you warm?

Oh man, the soda can bag story hurts because I've been there too. That's like buying a tent based on how cool it looks.
