Heads up about that campsite near Table Rock Lake

I was at the Big Creek campground last weekend and noticed a bunch of poison ivy right along the trail to the water spigot. Watch where you step, my hiking buddy got a rash on his ankle that swelled up bad. Has anyone else run into overgrown trails at that spot?

Hurried right over to check this post because I saw the same thing when I was there two weeks ago. My dog brushed against some vines near the water spigot and I didn't think much of it until I noticed a red, bumpy patch on his leg the next day. Had to take him to the vet for a steroid shot and it cost me a hundred bucks. It's really bad back there, the park staff must have skipped that spot during maintenance. I'm just glad nobody else has had to deal with a swollen ankle like your buddy did, that sounds miserable.

Last summer I started carrying a tiny bottle of Tecnu in my backpack after a run in with poison ivy at Lake of the Ozarks. Just a few drops on a paper towel and wiping the area down right after you get back to camp can save you a lot of trouble.
