DAE stop chasing shutter speeds by ear and finally buy a cheap tester?

For ages I timed leaf shutters by listening to the click and guessing, and I ate a couple of customer complaints because of it. Bought a $60 shutter tester off a retired guy in Dayton last month and now I just read the numbers instead of guessing. Any of you still going by ear on the old Compur shutters, or is that just me?
