Can we talk about how long it took me to track down a tiny light leak in a customer's Pentax?
A guy dropped off a Pentax K1000 back in August saying his shots had a faint haze on the right side, and I figured it was a 20 minute fix. I swapped the seals, checked the mirror bumper, ran a test roll, and the haze was still there. Turned out to be a pinhole in the shutter curtain that only showed up past 1/250, and finding it took me nearly 9 hours across three sessions with a flashlight and a dark closet in my shop here in Boise. Back when I started in the 90s we had a guy two doors down who could spot that stuff by feel in about a minute, and man do I miss having him around. Anyone got a better trick for chasing down curtain pinholes without burning a whole day?
