Took a fall off a ladder at a McMansion job site last month

I was running a line through a big attic in a new development over near Glenville and didn't notice the joist spacing was wider than usual. Stepped right through the ceiling drywall and went down hard. Broke my ankle and had to take two weeks off. Since then I started carrying a piece of plywood to lay across the joists whenever I have to crawl around up there. Has anyone else had to change how they move in attics after a close call?
