Stopped guessing which drop line was dead by toning them with a $12 cheapie from the hardware store
Had a job up in Parma Heights where four lines came off one splitter and the customer swore only the bedroom jack was bad. I used to just swap ports and hope, which ate 40 minutes easy. Then I dug out a little tone generator and wand I bought for 12 bucks and touched each line at the splitter, and the dead one sang right back at me. Took 5 minutes to find a chewed coax behind the baseboard instead of pulling the wall apart. What are you all using to trace lines in old houses with no labels, because mine is cheap and I know there has to be something better.
