Guess it depends on the house. Some people just have a lot of gear to hook up. Not everyone can have a perfect setup.

Did your friend ever try those cable raceway things? My buddy had like six game consoles and a soundbar in his living room, and the wires looked like a spider web. He got some stick on channels from Home Depot and painted them to match the wall, cleaned up like 90% of the mess. Still took him like two hours to figure out which cord went where though.
