I discovered my library's free cabinet plan collection last week.

These plans help you learn difficult joints with clear instructions.

Clear instructions for difficult joints was the game changer for me too. I got some printed plans for a small box that focused on dovetails, which always messed me up. Having the drawings right there next to my workbench let me check each step without losing my place on a screen. Actually cutting the joints with the paper steps in front of me made the whole process way less intimidating lol. Seeing my own cuts start to match the professional drawings in the plans gave me a real boost to try harder projects.

Yeah my buddy Mark had the same thing happen with a birdhouse plan. He printed the whole thing out, like @nancy_green was saying, and taped the page showing the roof angle right to his saw. He said staring at his phone for that one measurement kept messing him up, but the paper just stayed put. He finally got the cut right on his third try because he could just glance over without wiping sawdust on his screen.

That's cool your library has that. @beth_sanchez, I get what you mean about paper being easier than a screen. Do you still look up videos online for tricky parts, or do you stick only to the paper plans once you start building?
