Talked to my dad about the old block and tackle system at his shop

He was showing me pictures from the 80s and said 'we hung a whole side of beef with just rope, pulleys, and a strong back, none of these electric hoists.' It made me wonder how much of the craft's feel we lose chasing speed. What's one old school method you still use even though there's a faster way?

Still sharpen my kitchen knives by hand on a whetstone. The electric sharpener is in the drawer, but the slow way gives me a better edge and a quiet minute to think. Guess I'm just a sucker for doing things the hard way, my wife says it's why I still can't program the coffee maker.

a sucker for doing things the hard way" lol i feel that @ramirez.caleb. There's just something about the slow, quiet jobs that feels right. My partner gives me the same look about my old manual can opener.
