Broke my good boning knife on a pelvic bone, learned a hard lesson

Last Saturday at the shop in Toledo, I was breaking down a beef round and got lazy. I tried to pop the aitch bone with my 6 inch curved boning knife instead of grabbing the saw. The tip snapped clean off when it caught the edge, that was a $140 knife and now it's a stubby. I spent 20 minutes digging the broken piece out of the meat before I could even finish the cut. My mentor always said never force a knife through bone, and he was right. What do you guys do when you're mid-cut and realize you grabbed the wrong tool, do you stop or push through?
