My ISP rep at the Austin office said fiber was 2 months out, then showed up 3 days later with a crew
Sat down with our rep on a Tuesday to hear the bad news about our building's old copper lines, and by Friday his crew was already trenching in the alley behind 6th Street, which made me wonder how many other small shops are sitting on worse service than they think just because nobody pushed back on the timeline.

Check the dates again, because 3 days from Tuesday is Friday, and you said the crew was already trenching by then. Fiber build-outs almost never move that fast (permits alone usually take weeks in Austin), so my guess is the trenching you saw was a different crew doing unrelated utility work in the alley. Worth asking your rep to confirm it was actually your fiber job, since contractors love to claim nearby digs as progress.
