My buddy swore I was wasting time with monthly spreads and he was right
My friend Dave told me back in January that I was overcomplicating my bullet journal by making these big fancy monthly layouts that took me 2 hours each. I got defensive and said it helped me see the whole month at once. But by March I realized I never actually looked at them after I made them. I was just decorating pages for Instagram likes basically. I ditched the monthly spreads and now I just do weekly logs with a tiny calendar in the corner. Has anyone else had someone call them out on a habit that was secretly just for show?

Yeah but at least Dave was looking out for you, right @lisa671? Tbh Instagram culture really did a number on what "useful" means for planners.

...and then you realized you were basically doing arts and crafts instead of actually planning your life. Ngl I feel personally attacked because I literally did the exact same thing for like six months straight. Honestly the bullet journal community makes you feel like a failure if you're not making these watercolor masterpieces every month. But once I admitted I was just staging my life for the internet, I cut my planning time down to like 15 minutes a week and it felt way more useful. Tbh Dave might be a real one for calling you out like that, even if it stung at first.
