My $38 dot grid habit vs my grandma's 1970s grocery list notebook
Three years ago I found my grandma's old shopping list notebook from 1976 in a box in her attic in Erie, Pennsylvania, and it was just a cheap spiral pad where she crossed things off as she went. I got into bullet journaling two years later and now I spend $38 per planner plus another $20 or so on markers and stencils, and I probably use 15 percent of what I set up. Some people say the structure keeps them on track and I get that, but when I look at grandma's messy little book I wonder if we are just adding cost and rules to something that used to be simple. So which side are you on, does the fancy system actually help you get things done or would a 99 cent notebook work just as well for most of us?
Tbh the 99 cent notebook would probably work fine, but calling the fancy system just "cost and rules" misses that some of us need the setup to actually sit down and use it. Grandma had a system too, it was just cheaper.
