Our fridge gave out on a Thursday night and we had to get creative
It happened last week, right after we did a big grocery run. The motor just quit and everything started to thaw. We ended up moving all the cold stuff into coolers with ice packs for two days while we figured it out. Instead of buying new, we found a local repair guy who fixed it for $180, which saved us over a thousand. Has anyone else had a major appliance break and managed to fix it cheap?

That sinking feeling when the fridge dies is the worst, especially with a full load of groceries. Good call on the repair guy, that's a huge save. My old washing machine started making this awful banging noise last year, sounded like a helicopter taking off. A neighbor knew a guy who fixed it for the cost of the part and a six-pack. Sometimes the old stuff just needs a little help to keep going.

Wait a six-pack as payment? That's wild, my repair guy would laugh me out the door. Mine charged like two hundred just to show up and look at my dryer. Your neighbor's guy is a legend.
