Found a way to cut my grocery bill by $50 a month without coupons

I was spending way too much at the store, especially on produce that would go bad. I started planning meals around what was on sale at my local Kroger in Cincinnati, and I made a strict list. Last month, I only bought exactly what was on that list and avoided the middle aisles completely. My receipt showed I saved $52 compared to my usual average. Has anyone else tried this 'perimeter shopping' method and had it work?

Planning around sales is the real game changer. I switched to only buying meat that was marked down for quick sale and freezing it right away. Sticking to a list and skipping the snack aisles forced me to get creative with basics like rice and beans. My waste dropped a ton because I'm actually using what I buy now. It feels like a small win every time I check out.

Totally agree with @grant_gibson on planning around sales! That perimeter shopping trick is no joke. Sticking to a list and avoiding those middle aisles full of processed stuff makes a huge difference. It really does force you to cook with what you actually have. The best part is seeing the savings add up right on the receipt. Feels like beating the system every single time.
