My cousin swore by overnight buses in Vietnam, but I had to learn the hard way

She told me the sleeper buses from Hanoi to Da Nang were a great way to save a hotel night and travel for like $25. I mean, it saved money, but I barely slept at all because of the constant honking and winding roads. Has anyone found a better budget option for that route that doesn't leave you a total zombie the next day?

Oh man, I read a travel blog once where someone broke down the real cost of those buses! They said the cheap ticket is just the start. You lose a whole day after being that tired, so you might pay for a nap room or extra coffee, and you're too wiped to enjoy anything. That blogger ended up saying a daytime train seat, even second class, was a better deal for them because they arrived ready to go. Seems like saving a few bucks isn't worth it if you can't function.

Honestly this is why I'm suspicious of any "life hack" that trades sleep for money. Tbh you always pay for it later in being exhausted and miserable. The budget option ends up costing more in lost time.

But sometimes you just need to get there cheap, right? A rough night won't kill you.
