Bought a reusable water filter bottle for $35 on a trip to Bangkok, ended up saving me like $60 on bottled water in the first week alone.

I was skeptical at first but the tap water there is sketchy and I was buying like 4 bottles a day at 10 baht each. The filter bottle paid for itself in under a week. Plus way less plastic waste. Anyone else tried those portable filter bottles in places where you can't drink the tap water?

Man that's one of those things where you do the math and realize how much money you've been literally pouring down the drain... 10 baht at a time really adds up fast when you're sweating through a hot day. My buddy did the same thing in Mexico City and came back bragging about how his bottle paid for itself in like 3 days. I was like "cool, so you basically just bought a $35 bottle of water with extra steps." But honestly the plastic savings alone is wild when you think about all those empty bottles piling up.

Is that not how everyone feels after the math sinks in? I did the same thing when I was down in Costa Rica last year. Felt like a genius for about five minutes until I realized I was just carrying around a fancy bottle that cost more than a week of bottle water. Haha. The real win was actually not feeling guilty every time I looked at a trash can full of plastic. You see so much plastic waste down there it makes you sick. I honestly think that plastic savings angle is where its at even if the money part is a little silly when you break it down.
