My slow cooker gave out right before a big potluck, total disaster lol
This happened two days ago, I was making a big batch of cheap bean chili for a work thing. Had everything in my old Crock Pot, left it on low like always. Came back four hours later and it was stone cold, just totally dead. Had to run to the store and buy two of those big cans of chili for like $5 each, which blew my whole budget for the meal. I was so mad because dried beans and a few cans of tomatoes cost me maybe $3 total. Now I'm looking for a new one, but I don't want to spend a ton. Has anyone had a slow cooker last more than five years? Mine was a hand-me-down so maybe it was just old.

Ugh, that's the worst timing! My old one died right before a holiday dinner, same thing, just went cold. I had a cheap store brand one that lasted maybe three years before the knob broke off. My mom has this ugly brown one from the 90s that still works perfectly, so I guess they just don't make them like that anymore. I ended up getting a basic new one at a discount store and I'm just hoping it holds up.

Seriously, what is it with them dying right before you need them? That's too weird to just be bad luck. Maybe they have a sixth sense for bad timing.
