DAE still miss the days when cosplay was all thrift store curtains and hot glue?
I was digging through my old photos and found my first con badge from 2009. I spent $12 on fabric at a Goodwill in Columbus and won a small award. Now I see people dropping $200 on 3D printed parts and I wonder if I'm the only one who still thinks a cardboard sword duct taped to a broom handle is peak cosplay. What's the cheapest thing you ever turned into a full costume?
My first "armor" was a $6 trash can from Walmart that I cut up with kitchen scissors and spray painted silver, and I wore it to a con in 2008 thinking I was a total knight. The edges were so sharp I couldn't sit down all day. So yeah, I feel you on the fancy 3D printed stuff these days, but I'll always be team hot glue and cardboard. My glue gun has seen more combat than my actual costume ever did, lol.
