I finally listened to my aunt about pruning my monstera in March
She told me to cut it back hard before spring growth and I was scared I'd kill it, but now it put out 5 new leaves with fenestrations bigger than my hand - anyone else have a plant that needed brutal honesty to thrive?

Wait, the new leaves are actually bigger than your hand?

Big leaves are overrated. I'd take smaller leaves any day. They hold up better in wind, don't droop as much, and look way more manageable. Plus big leaves just means more surface area for pests and disease. People get caught up in size but forget about plant health.
