Saw a window in Lawrence, KS with one book and a dead houseplant, and now I judge displays totally differently
I was killing time in Lawrence last Saturday before a buddy's wedding, walked past this indie shop on Mass Street with a single copy of Moby Dick propped on a stack of pallets and one sad brown plant next to it. At first I laughed, but then I stood there for like 5 minutes and realized I actually wanted to go inside more than any of the busy cluttered windows I usually skip. There was a tiny note taped to the glass that just said "this one's free if you promise to finish it." Now when I walk past the shop near me with the 40 book beach read pile, all I see is noise. Has anyone else seen a bare bones display that somehow pulled you in harder than the packed ones?
