Figured out I was the reason my 3 window displays kept failing at Bookends in Salem
I run the window at a small shop in Salem and for about 8 months I kept building these careful themed displays, like all green books for spring, and people walked right past them. Then a guy from the shop two blocks over asked why I face all the covers outward at the same height. He said you want one book tilted open to a page and a handwritten note next to it, not a shelf of spines staring at the sidewalk. I tried it the next Saturday with just one open book and a stack of 4 copies beside it, and we sold 6 that day. So what is the one small change that finally got people to stop and look at your window?
