A window display with a half built book fort changed my whole approach
I used to skip the Book Nook in Portland on my way to work, thought it was just another indie shop. But last Tuesday they had this wild window, a miniature castle made entirely out of unsold copies of fantasy novels, complete with a tiny drawbridge and a note saying 'for the dreamers who build their own worlds'. I stood there for maybe 10 minutes, and it hit me that I always judged stores by their bestseller tables, not their weird corners. Now I make a point to check the windows first, and I've found three new authors I never would've touched. Anyone else find that the silliest displays lead to their favorite reads?
